How Lucky

In my hotel, in New York City
The place is great but I’m feeling kinda gritty
I went to the doctor, who said I’d get well
As he gave me a local and put me through hell

So I went back to my room to recover
And lying in bed I began to discover

How lucky, I am to be here
How lucky, I am to have someone near, who loves me dear
How lucky, I am, that’s clear

Sitting in my room to take my medication
As the hours race by on my vacation
I flip on the television out of frustration
But the choices make me dizzy and kill my inspiration

To make the best of a bad situation
I go right back to my realization

How lucky, I am to be here
How lucky, I am to have someone near, who loves me dear
How lucky, I am, that’s clear

The pills are helping reduce my aggravation
So I get up to leave without hesitation
Before embarking on some new recreation
I grab my guitar to make a dedication

And I start writing a song for that physician
As I now feel better and see he’s a magician, and

How lucky, I am to be here
How lucky, I am to have someone near, who loves me dear
How lucky, I am, that’s clear
