“Take Time” on New Year’s Day
On this first day of the year, I am happy to share a song I wrote in Moscow on the first of January a couple of years ago. While all of us will spend this first day of the year in very different geographies, the idea of taking it easy seems universal to me, no matter the weather or the setting. Here is a demo I put out with the song, which is still slated to be part of an upcoming album. The lyrics are down below too. Hope you like it!
TAKE TIME
First day of the year
No sign of the sun and it’s cold
But you and me we’re here
Just hangin’ around
Pancakes on the grill, and the phone
Well, it’s just nowhere to be found
As snow falls
Covering the trees
Take time
Live in the moment
Make time
Life just goes by
Slow down
Do more tomorrow
Don’t feel the need to hang on
And don’t ask why
Don’t turn on the news
For one day, we can say
“Take a break“
‘Cause it’s just givin’ us the blues
We don’t we put on a film?
There’s so many to choose,
but the one you want is waiting for us still
And your smile
Brightens up the dark day
…and for a while we
Take time
Live in the moment
Make time
Life just goes by
Slow down
Do more tomorrow
Don’t feel the need to hang on
And don’t ask why
First day of the year
Play guitar in the still of the night
And just be happy that we’re here
As snow falls
Covering the trees
Take time
Live in the moment
Make time
Life just goes by
Slow down
Do more tomorrow
Don’t feel the need to hang on
And don’t ask why
Sounds as my last two years with meditation and a master of the art.
So lovely, so true indeed. The present, letting go, and being true to others from the soul, and true to ones self so as to abide in the heart! All the rest is icing on the cake!
Thank you for this song! …and a good few of the others!
