Happy New Year – A Song to Begin 2014: “Take Time”

To begin 2014, I want to wish everyone well and share my new year sentiments with you through a song I wrote about the first day of the year, called “Take Time.” Here’s a home demo with lyrics. Hope you like it. Happy new year!

TAKE TIME

First day of the year
No sign of the sun and it’s cold
But you and me we’re here

Just hangin’ around
Pancakes on the grill, and the phone
Well, it’s just nowhere to be found

As snow falls
Covering the trees

Take time
Live in the moment
Make time
Life just goes by

Slow down
Do more tomorrow
Don’t feel the need to hang on
And don’t ask why

Don’t turn on the news
For one day, we can say
“Take a break“
‘Cause it’s just givin’ us the blues

We don’t we put on a film?
There’s so many to choose,
but the one you want is waiting for us still

And your smile
Brightens up the dark day
…and for a while we

Take time
Live in the moment
Make time
Life just goes by

Slow down
Do more tomorrow
Don’t feel the need to hang on
And don’t ask why

First day of the year
Play guitar in the still of the night
And just be happy that we’re here

As snow falls
Covering the trees

Take time
Live in the moment
Make time
Life just goes by

Slow down
Do more tomorrow
Don’t feel the need to hang on
And don’t ask why

    Hey guys
We are off to St. Barth’s on Saturday (we hope – given the weather.) Hope that all is good for you and it would be fun to see you sometime soon.

    Hi Gregg:

Thank you so much for the kind email and the link to this great song. It was a great way to start the day, and I really appreciate it.

Thanks also for asking about my son Brooks. I’m happy to say that he’s making an excellent recovery. He’s playing his oboe again, and he even sounds good. I’ll ask him if it’s okay to send you a recording he recently made.

Thanks again, Gregg. Don’t worry if it’s taking longer to launch the business than you expected. It always works that way. Please let me know if there is ever anything I can do to help.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2014 – Brad Fisher

    Gregg –

Thank you for this deceptively simple song with such beautiful, evocative imagery. Your ‘Take time’ admonition is actually a huge challenge for us non-downshifters. Hmmm … force yourself to be more contemplative in order to live life to its fullest. This is something that most residents of Euro-American urban sprawls could use more of. You might be on to something …

Thank you for this musical meditation on what really matters.

Wishing you and yours peace and happiness in 2014,

    Vlad
